Fashion wrap: Trendsetters have off day

This week's fashion wrap proves that even style icons have off days with Sienna Miller doing her best impression of a lampshade and Nicole Richie impersonating a curtain.

She's just split up from fiancé Rhys Ifans, so maybe she was distracted, but at the premiere of  her new film The Edge of Love in Edinburgh, Sienna Miller wore black leggings topped with a fringed floor-length over-dress and a hat.

Fringing is supposed to be a big trend this winter, but the waistcoat was taking things to the extreme.

Another celebrity making a dodgy outfit choice was trend-setter Nicole Richie.

At the Women in Film Awards in Beverly Hills she chose a satin, printed caftan dress - which drowned her petite frame and drew attention away from her new-mum glow.

The awards honour outstanding women for their contribution to the entertainment industry.

Cameron Diaz was at the same event - she chose a demure strapless tea dress (forties big skirts are another big trend this season) accessorised with a matching red wrap.

Charlize Theron is a permanent fixture on 'best dressed' lists, this week she's been jet-setting around Europe promoting her new movie Hancock with Will Smith, on the red carpet for the German premiere she proved yet again why she regularly tops the 'most stylish woman' lists.

But the 'What were you thinking?' award this week goes to singer Rhianna, during her appearance on The Today Show it looks like she pinned paper flowers to the bottom of her short black dress, and the cap doesn't complement the quirky dress.

Jackson To Star In MTV Reality Series

R&B singer Janet Jackson is set to star in an upcoming reality TV series for MTV. The project will follow Jackson as she mentors a group of aspiring singers and dancers in search of the next pop superstar through unconventional means. Executive producer Dave Broome says of the series, "It's really about finding who's the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher. And we'll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn't typically find it from. We'll go to Ymcas, church groups, local community centres and try to cast the show." The winner of the series will receive a prize yet to be determined, although producers are entertaining the idea of relating it to Jackson's upcoming world tour - which kicks off on 10 September . Jackson's show signals a turnaround from her turbulent relationship with the network. She was rumoured to be blacklisted by the station after her infamous wardrobe malfunction during a performance with Justin Timberlake at the 2004 Superbowl halftime show the network produced.
